Keeping yourself healthy inside-out is the most crucial of all tasks as ageing does affect us in many ways slowing down the mechanism. So it is important to keep your brain healthy while you are in your prime to reap the benefits of a healthier you.

Having instances of forgetfulness tends to increase with ageing, but it is not necessary that we let rare occasions become a part of our life. But there are a few ways that can be helpful in keeping the memory strong.

Eat A Healthy Diet 

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, herbs or seeds is good for boosting brain health. All these food types are rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids that are a boon to our cardiovascular system and the brain. Also, don’t forget to consume plenty of water throughout the day as dehydration may lead to slowing down of brain functioning. (Your body has its own need for water, so drink ample as per the requirement.)

Get Enough Night’s Sleep

A good night’s sleep is an important factor to keep your memories intact without missing out on any event. Adults are recommended to sleep between seven and nine hours each night for optimal health & sharp brain functioning. Sleep helps strengthen connections between brain cells and different brain regions and stores the information in the efficient areas of the brain, keeping the memories in the long run.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise is not just good for our physical health but mental well-being as it is found that people who exercise have a lower risk of memory loss and dementia. Even moderate exercise for short periods is known to improve cognitive performance across all age groups. So, pick any of the exercises of your choice swimming, dancing, stretching, running, cycling, etc.

Meditate for Peace

Start meditating to help calm your brain and boost memory power. Meditation is known to improve short-term memory in people of all ages, as the grey matter tends to decrease with ageing. Practising mindfulness is one of the ways to keep yourself on track with staying in the present and being focused on your surroundings.

Stay Mentally Engaged 

Playing games is not just a fun activity, but it also helps us indulge mentally in things that keep us going. Try to learn different things and upgrade your skill set by ditching your comfort zone.
