Healthy Herbs & Spices 

We have been using herbs in our kitchen for ages but did you know it does not just enhance the flavours but the nutrient profile of the food. Properties of herbs are anti-inflammatory, cognitive boosters, even effective in certain kinds of cancer.

The important herbs and spices include saffron, cinnamon, thyme, coriander, turmeric, peppermint, ginger, etc.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a basic spice that is used in our food prepared daily for the yellow colour and flavour but what it gives our body is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-parasitic benefits. It helps with the build-up of oxidative stress in the body preventing any chronic diseases.

Ginger

Ginger as an ingredient has been used for thousands of years as a remedy for nausea and gastrointestinal issues as it contains anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant levels. It can also help ward off the growth of bacteria in the mouth taking good care of oral health.

Cumin  

The cumin seeds are popular as an aromatic spice in our cuisine but their benefits are not only restricted to great taste enhancers. But cumin is said to benefit our digestion, immune system, and circulation. The antioxidant properties help you feel healthier and more energetic.

Peppermint

It is an aromatic flavouring agent that can be used dried or fresh in different foods. Peppermint has a cooling effect & antibacterial properties while being beneficial for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), nausea, skin conditions, headaches, cold, and flu. It is also an active ingredient in ointments and creams to relax muscles.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is an antimicrobial, anti-viral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-carcinogenic spice. There’s evidence that suggests a short-term reduction in blood pressure and blood sugar levels on the consumption of cinnamon.

Cardamom

Cardamom is used in teas, desserts and even some dishes with some promising benefits like treating oral issues, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, cardiovascular disease, etc. Cardamom also contains phytochemical that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which work great for our body.
