TIME TO COMBAT ARTHRITIS PAIN: REMEDIES

Arthritis is an inflammatory condition, characterised by joint pain and stiffness, which worsens with age and being overweight. There are many types of arthritis, with the most common being osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Many allopathic medications are used to ease pain and symptoms, but these may lead to having a negative gastrointestinal effect. So, it is advisable to know other effective remedies for long term solutions.

The following remedies are effective without any side effects:-  

1. Aloe Vera 

It is safe to use and has no inflammatory properties. It doesn’t have any side effects and can be used for topical application, and aloe vera juice can be consumed as well.

2. Eucalyptus 

The leaves of this therapeutic plant help reduce swelling and pain related to the problem. Some people follow it with a heating pad to maximise effects. You may apply a few drops of this oil in the affected painful areas to relieve pain.

3. Ginger 

Grate fresh ginger over your salads or soups. Including fresh ginger juice in your teas may also help treat the condition.

4. Green Tea

This popular beverage, high in antioxidants helps fight inflammation and is a healthy option over sodas, sugar-loaded coffees, soda drinks or another form of frizzy sweetened beverages.

5. Turmeric 

It is used to add flavour & colour to your savoury dishes. The main anti-inflammatory ingredient curcumin may help with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other conditions.

It can be added to your cup of milk or can be taken in warm water as well.

6. Use hot and cold remedies 

Heat treatments include the use of hot pads, bottles, warm water bath to ease out the pain and reduce overnight discomfort. Cold treatments include swelling, inflammation, wrapping a gel ice pack for quick relief.

7.Get a massage 

Massage helps provide a sense of well being, manage joint pain and discomfort.

9. Fatty fish and omega-3 supplements 

Omega-3 fats are excellent anti-inflammatory dietary sources and coldwater fish such as salmon, tuna are the best ones to be consumed. Consider cooking food in olive oil and use flaxseed oil over your salads. Omega-3 Supplements can also be considered to be consumed for effective results.

Sun is the most abundant source of vitamin D. You may consider boosting your vitamin D levels, by sufficient exposure under the Sun. It will assist stronger bones and overall health.
